How the builder thinks
Plain maths, no black box
What is ECT, and why does it matter?
ECT, the edge crush test, measures how much load the board can take on its edge, in pounds per inch. It's the number that predicts how well a box stacks.
How is "needed strength" worked out?
We take the weight on the bottom box (everything stacked above it) and multiply by a safety factor for the journey: 3 for pallets, 4 for parcel, 5 for export and cold chain, where humidity and handling knock strength down.
How is box strength estimated?
With the McKee formula, the industry's standard rule of thumb: 5.87 × ECT × √(board caliper × box perimeter). Real-world results vary, which is why we test every new design.

Send us the dimensions. We'll send a quote by tomorrow.
Inside dimensions in inches or millimetres, the quantity you expect per run, and what goes in the box. You get back a price, a lead time and, if it helps, a better box.
